How do I acquire the map, puzzles, riddles, clues, hints, for the treasure hunt?
Once you have signed up and provided the required details, you will receive an email with your membership number and log in details for downloading your treasure map and to gain access to all clues, riddles, puzzles, and hits to make your hunt current with everyone else. After that you will get an email from us on either a weekly or bi-weekly basis (depending on the nature of the treasure hunt or story) with further clues, and hints until the treasure has been found.
Do I have to live in the state or province where the treasure is buried to take part in the treasure hunt?
No, this is a worldwide treasure hunt. You can take part in any and all treasure hunt regardless of where you live.
How old do I have to be to participate in the treasure hunt?
You must be 16 years of age or older to participate in the treasure hunt. If you are younger, you must participate with a parent or legal guardian who is over the age of 16. Or… if the country or state you are participating from has different requirements, you must abide by the requirements of the country or state you are participating from.
Can I hunt for the any treasure alone or do I have to have a partner or be part of a team?
You can hunt for the treasure alone, with a partner, or with a team. It is entirely up to you. Every player however needs to be registered with milliondollartreasurehunts.com This is done to avoid any potential conflict when a treasure is found. We will only deal with registered members. Meaning, if you and your team find the million-dollar treasure, we will divide the booty only between registered team members. That doesn’t mean that you cannot divide it further between non-registered members, but it does mean that non-registered members are at risk of not getting their share from the registered team members if they so choose not to share with them.
Will the million-dollar treasure hunt map be mailed out to me after I join?
No, the map will not be physically mailed to you, you will be able to download it digitally from our website after you have received your membership details.
How do I hunt for the million-dollar treasure or any other treasure?
You will be given a map, plus riddles, puzzles, clues, and hints, all of which lead to solving the location where the main treasures and other smaller treasures are hidden.
What happens if nobody can find any of the treasures?
If nobody finds the main treasures by a certain date, more hints will be released. A new clue will be revealed every one or two weeks until the treasure(s) is/are found. Usually within 12 months of the starting date of the treasure hunt.
Is there more than one treasure to be found?
Yes, there are multiple treasures to be found on all treasure hunts, but only one grand treasure. All details as to the number of and value of each treasure will be made available at the start of each new treasure hunt via email and on our website.
How will I know when someone finds the grand treasure?
For any treasure over $1,000,000, you will not be searching for the actual treasure, but for twelve fragments of a treasure map (only one fragment per player will be allowed) These fragments are be buried in twelve separate locations. Once all twelve pieces of the treasure map have been found, the treasure will have been deemed to have been found, and we will notify all registered treasure hunters via email plus this information will also be posted on our website.
Why can’t I search for more than one piece of the lost grand treasure map, wouldn’t finding more than one piece of the map give me an advantage in finding the grand treasure?
No, it doesn’t improve your chance of finding the grand treasure. Once you’ve found one of the twelve pieces of the grand treasure map, you’ve secured a spot in the grand adventure. Once all twelve pieces have been found, that’s when the fun really begins. The twelve treasure hunters who have found one of the twelve missing pieces of the lost treasure map each will now embark on a grand adventure “the great race style” It will be an adventure to remember with one grand winner.
What do I do when I’ve found one of the twelve missing [pieces of the grand treasure map?
Once you find one of the twelve pieces of the grand treasure map, you will phone the number that is written on the back of the map. Upon phoning, you will be asked for your full name, your player ID code, the ID code located on your treasure map. Once that is complete and you are confirmed as a legitimate current member in good standing, our staff will confirm that you are one of the holders of one of the twelve sections of the map. Once all 12 sections of the map have been found you will be notified the ADVENTURE of a lifetime is about to begin as you compete with the other section map holders for the GRAND PRICE. None of the challenges will be dangerous or strenuous.
What if I’m not physically able to participate in the adventure challenge due to age or other physical limitations?
Even though the challenges are not dangerous, if you feel you can’t compete, you may nominate a surrogate of your choosing to take your place. All challenges are designed to inject an element of real adventure and excitement into the treasure hunt and to give all participant bragging rights and a sense of pride to having been a part of a real live adventure. All final Grand Treasure Hunts will be videoed and will be available for viewing on our website and YouTube.
What are all the different types of treasures that can found?
We have 7 levels of treasures that can be found. 1) The GRAND TREASURE, the $1,000,000 million-dollar treasure. 2) The $100,000 dollar treasures. 3) The $50,000 dollar treasures, 4) The $25,000 dollar treasures. 5) the $10,000 dollar treasures, 6) The $5000 dollar treasures. And 7) the $1000 dollar treasures.
Except for the million-dollar treasure, which will be a cash only treasure, all other treasures can be cash or items that meets or exceeds the value of the found treasure, such as cars, camper vans, trucks, international vacations, local vacations, pampered weekends, etc.
All found treasures will be final and can not be exchanged for anything else. All taxes on treasures are the finder’s responsibility.
Do all treasure hunts have all the above-mentioned treasures to be discovered?
No. The number of treasures is dependent on our sponsors.
Do I have a choice in choosing either the cash, or the item of equal to or greater value for the treasure I find?
Who can participate in the treasure hunt?
Anyone 16 years of age and older can participate in the treasure hunt. No employees of the milliondollartreasurehunts.com will be permitted to participate in the treasure hunt.
Who will know where the treasures are hidden?
Only three people know where the treasures are hidden. Those three will remain anonymous for their own safety. As our treasure hunts are of a limited time frame and are transparent as all found treasures will be reported on there is little to no chance of fraud.
What happens if more than one person finds the treasure at the same time?
In the unlikely event that a treasure is found by more than one person at the exact same time, the money will be divided equally between the number of people who found the treasure. However, in the case of $1,000,000 dollar treasures or above, there is zero chance of this happening, as only the winner of the grand adventure gets to claim the treasure, or their team.
Is the money in the treasure chest taxable under law?
We are not tax attorneys and as players of multiple countries can participate in the treasure hunt, we are unable to advise you on this matter. We suggest you contact your attorney and/or accountant to determine your legal responsibilities regarding taxation and other financial matters related to any treasure money.
Can I still join the treasure hunt after it has already started?
Yes! You can, you can join the treasure hunt at any point of the hunt, as long as the treasure has not been found. You will be given all the material and information everyone else had access to up to the point where you join the treasure hunt.
Should I hunt for the treasure alone or with friends, or family?
That all depends. Hunting for the treasure with friends and family has its benefits; it's a whole lot of fun, and it creates camaraderie and great memories with a lot of laughs. It also helps to have more than one great mind figuring out the map, riddles, and clues. But you will also have to split your loot! If you can live with that, go for it. If not, solo is the way, mate!
How will I know if a treasure has already been found?
You will be able to see which treasures have been found and which are still hidden by going to the Million Dollar Treasure Hunts Treasure page. There, the treasure chests located on the map will indicate which treasures have been found and which are still waiting to be found.
